Privacy Policy
How Almuallim collects, uses and protects your personal data.
Last updated: 27 September 2026
1. Who we are
Almuallim ("we", "us", "our") is an online Quran academy providing one-to-one Quran tuition to students across the UK. Our contact email is info@almuallim.uk.
We are the data controller for the personal data you provide to us. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.
2. What data we collect
When you submit our free trial form or contact us, we may collect:
- Identity data — parent or student name.
- Contact data — email address, WhatsApp number, city.
- Student details — age, current level, preferred lesson times, and any notes you choose to share.
- Enquiry data — which course or package you are interested in, and any message you send us.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information (collected by our hosting provider, GitHub Pages, and by Google/Bing analytics if enabled).
We do not collect payment card details. All fees are agreed and paid by bank transfer or another method communicated at enrolment.
3. How we use your data
We use your personal data to:
- Respond to your free trial request and arrange a class.
- Match the student with a suitable teacher.
- Communicate with you about lessons, scheduling, progress and fees.
- Keep records of student progress and lesson attendance.
- Improve our service and website.
Our legal basis for processing is your consent (which you provide by submitting the form and ticking the consent box), and our legitimate interest in operating an educational service.
4. Children's data
Many of our students are children. We collect a child's first name, age and learning level only as necessary to arrange lessons. The parent or guardian is the primary contact and must provide consent for a child to enrol. If you believe a child has provided us with data without parental consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with:
- Our teachers — to deliver the lessons.
- FormSubmit — the form service that delivers your enquiry to our email inbox. Their privacy policy is available at formsubmit.co.
- GitHub Pages — which hosts this website.
- Google and Bing — if analytics or webmaster tools are enabled, to understand traffic to our site.
- Legal authorities — only if required by law.
6. Where your data is stored
Our website is hosted on GitHub Pages (servers in the United States and Europe). Emails are stored in the email inbox of the academy. WhatsApp messages are stored on WhatsApp's servers under their privacy policy. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is handled securely.
7. How long we keep your data
- Enquiries that do not lead to enrolment: 12 months.
- Active student records: for as long as the student is enrolled, plus 2 years.
- Financial records: 6 years, as required by UK tax law.
After these periods, data is securely deleted.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct any inaccurate data.
- Erase your data (the "right to be forgotten").
- Restrict or object to our processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Data portability — receive your data in a portable format.
- Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@almuallim.uk. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses minimal cookies. If Google Analytics or Bing Webmaster Tools are enabled, these may set cookies to help us understand site traffic. You can disable cookies in your browser settings without affecting your ability to use the site.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continued use of our website after changes means you accept the updated policy.
