Why online Quran classes work for London families

London has one of the largest Muslim populations in the Western world — over 1.3 million Muslims across 32 boroughs. But a long commute, crowded Tube lines and packed local madrasah timetables make weekly in-person Quran classes a real challenge.

According to the 2021 Census, around 15% of London's population identifies as Muslim, with some East London boroughs close to 40%. That density is wonderful for the community — but it also means local masjids and madrasahs fill up fast, and group evening classes often move too quickly for some children and too slowly for others.

15%of London's population is Muslim
39.9%of Tower Hamlets — highest of any London borough
34.8%of Newham's population is Muslim
